Sandcastle, which is built on what was previously the holiday retreat of a former President of Ciskei, is situated on 2 kilometers of wide, white sandy beaches and towering dunes. The indigenous sea bush along the along the Indian Ocean seashore makes for great strolling and shelling. The magnificent Gqusha Lagoon forms the western boundary. The property represents 252 hectares (600 acres) of unspoiled African bush.

The villa measures approximately 1 600m² of construction and the architectural style here can best be described as 'African Adobe' and is quite organic in its structure, but extremely opulent and generous in its proportions and furnishings. The design has incorporated the magnificent views of the coast and valleys, which can be seen from all bedrooms and living areas. Inside, the decorative signature is not overtly African but the palette of natural ochres invokes a feeling of being in Africa. Decoration includes Kelim rugs, Mexican chairs, an array of African timbers were used for furniture and eclectic artworks. Say the owners: 'We tried to make it indigenous as far as possible and we didn't want a highly sophisticated decorative handwriting; it is simplistic within a quite basic shell; we wanted the property to reflect this continent of Africa.'

All six bedrooms have fine linen and are very comfortable. The lounge, conversation pit, entertainment room, gourmet kitchen, central courtyard, patio and rimflow pool area ensure you have a relaxed and enjoyable stay. Our house staff will take care of your laundry and all house-keeping requirements.

At Sandcastle you will enjoy a fabulous year round climate: Year round day temperatures average between 27 and 21Degrees C and nightly minimums between 11 and 19 Degrees C. This area is reputed to have more sunshine than any other South African coastal area.
